You can’t really argue with one and two.

You definitely can. Kafka over Joyce? No freakin way.

I prefer to to think of these lists as “no particular order”.  No Jane Austen?  No Victor Hugo?  And I think Shakespeare is greater than Kafka, and probably greater than Faulkner, much as I like him.
