I do think he did it so he could say he’s trying to help black people, and they just don’t want his help, and so he could say black people just want free stuff from the government, and all that other stuff. However, I don’t think he’s trying to appeal to racist precincts. He’s already GOT the racist white people’s votes. I think he’s more interested in the people who aren’t overtly racist, but are pretty sure they don’t like Obama, even if they’re not 100% sure why. Those are the people he needs, and those are the people I think his forthcoming ads will be targeting.
